Inspired by the bioluminescence created by phytoplankton that lights up the California coast. This phenomenon is called a 'bloom'. Imagining the local humpback whales swimming through these glowing microorganisms felt too magical not to recreate in clay, paint and with a lovely and special little opal I have held onto for years.

Varnished to help protect the paint from handling
